Approved Contract with Channel Islands YMCA - Lompoc

La Honda Elementary School qualified for State of California grant funds for the After School Education and Safety Program (ASES). The Board of Education approved acontract with Channel Islands YMCA - Lompoc. The District will act as fiscal agent andprovide funding up to $4,000 to a teacher to act as academic liaison. The liaison will align the program with the CORE and train YMCA staff in instructional strategies. The YMCA will hire and supervise staff to implement a collaboratively developed program plan. The program will serve 80 students and provide an educational component in one of the CORE areas plus an enrichment element in such areas as fine arts, recreation and physical education. A pupil to staff ratio of 20:1 will be maintained. Hours of operation will be the end of the school day until at least 6:00 p.m. for a minimum of 15 hours/week. The contract is for one year of operation.

LUSD has established a uniform complaint procedure (1312.3) for all relevant programs per 5 CCR § 4622 et seq . The district has a policy of nondiscrimination on the basis of gender per Education Amendments of 1972, Title IX: Nondiscrimination.
