Welcome to Lompoc Valley Middle School, Home of the Falcons! Few things are more exciting for educators than the start of a new school year. I want to personally send a warm welcome to our new seventh graders and our returning eighth graders. I hope both our staff and our students have had a chance to re-energize over the summer. This year promises to be a great year!
Before we progressed further into this school year, I wanted to express to you how pleased and excited I am to be part of the Lompoc Valley Middle School Family. My background as an educator includes almost twenty years of service, including seven years as a secondary administrator. I most recently served as a House Principal at Santa Monica High School for four years. Prior to my time at Samohi, I spent three years as an Assistant Principal at Oak Park High School. As a teacher, I taught middle and high school English, Humanities, Health and Physical Education. In addition, I coached football, track and cross country. My academic preparation includes a B.A. in English from U.C.L.A, an M.A. from Pepperdine University, and an M.Ed. from UCLA’s Principal Leadership Institute.
Our motto here at LVMS is that our students are “learners today, leaders tomorrow”. Also, the following principles guide our work:
1) What’s best for students must be at the heart of everything we do
2) All Students Can Learn and learn at high levels
3) High Expectations for students coupled with high expectations for adults
4) A safe and orderly learning environment is key to student success.
5) Effective teaching and boundless learning is the only reason why we are here
A successful school is not possible without a strong partnership with our parents. If you have not already done so, please take a moment join our PTSA. Our PTSA has planned many wonderful events for this coming year.
