iNotes™ Questions

When I logon I get a page that says: "iNotes Web Access™ has not been certified to work with this browser." What should I do?

You are probably using a browser on the Macintosh™, Netscape® on a PC, or a version of Internet Explorer® on the PC prior to 5.0. Unfortunately, iNotes Web Access™ will not run correctly on these browsers, you should instead use LUSD Webmail for your e-mail needs.

If you have a PC and require the added functionality that iNotes Web Access provides (such as a Calendar, Group Calendar, etc.) and your computer meets the minimum system requirements, enter a call on the ITS Help Desk to have a technician come out and upgrade or install Internet Explorer on your computer. If you don't know how to determine what version of Internet Explorer you are running see "How can I determine which version of Internet Explorer® I am using?" in this help document. If you are using a Macintosh™ and require iNotes Web Access™ you should find a PC you can use when required. Lotus has no plans to support the Macintosh™ platform at this time.

I get a message stating: "This page has an unexpected security flaw. Would you like to continue?" while working in iNotes™. Is this a problem, and what is the solution?
iNotes Security Flaw Popup.

This error message is generated by a misconfiguration of Internet Explorer's® security settings. Follow the directions below to correct them.

With Internet Explorer® open, select 'Tools' on the menu bar and click 'Internet Options' from the menu.

IE tools menu.

In the 'Internet Options' dialog box that pops up, select the 'Security' tab at the top. Then select 'Trusted Sites' by clicking on the green checkmark icon. Finally click the 'Sites' button to take you to the 'Trusted Sites' dialog box.

IE security tab.

The 'Trusted Sites' dialog box allows you to add sites to your list of trusted sites. Trusted sites are not treated with the same level of security as are other Internet sites and should be reserved for sites deemed "safe" by the ITS Department. iNotes™ is located on our internal network and thus is safe to add.

To add iNotes™ to your list of trusted sites, type the following locations in the text field labeled "Add this Web site to the zone:" click the "Add" button after each entry.

Finally click the 'OK' buttons on the 'Trusted Sites' dialog and the 'Internet Options' dialog boxes when finished to return to normal browsing in Internet Explorer®. Next time you logon to iNotes™ you should see a 'Trusted Sites' icon with a green checkmark in the lower right corner of your browser's window denoting that iNotes™ has been labeled a trusted site. Once you see this icon you are finished.

When I search for a person in the address book using their full name (including middle initial) I don't find them, what gives?

When users are entered into iNotes™ their middle initial is not included in their user profile. This is why when you do a search in the address book for a user and you include their middle initial, iNotes™ will not return any users matching your search terms. When trying to find someone in the address book it is recommended to search using only their last name. This will present you with a list of people with that last name from which you may choose. (Example: "Joe Q User" will yield no results but, "User" will find a list of people with the last name User from which you may select.)
