Microsoft Windows®
Most updates for the Microsoft Windows® family of operating systems
can be downloaded via the
Windows Update
website. For Microsoft Windows® 95 you must download the updates manually, some
of which can be found below.
Using Windows Update:
Go to the
Windows Update site
(http://www.windowsupdate.com) and click the Scan for updates
link to begin the update process. If Windows Update finds new software for your computer,
you can click Review and Install Updates and then click the
Install Now button to begin the installation.

Download
Microsoft® Internet Explorer® 6 SP1 is the Internet browser
recommended and supported by the ITS department for IBM PCs. Its is a modern multimedia
browser with deep integration into the Microsoft® Windows® family of operating systems.
Recommended System Requirements:
- Computer with an Intel® Pentium® II Processor.
- Microsoft® Windows® 98 Second Edition, or Windows® XP.
- 64 MB of RAM for Windows® 98 Second Edition,
128 MB of RAM for Windows® XP.
- Super VGA (800x600) or higher resolution monitor with 256 colors.
- 11 - 75 MB avaiable on hard drive during installation.
Installation Notes:
When you click Download you will be prompted
to download a 479 KB setup file called ie6setup.exe. Save this file to your desktop and,
once the download is complete, run the file by double-clicking it to begin the installation.

Download
Microsoft® Internet Explorer® 5.5 SP2 is the Internet browser
recommended and supported by the ITS department for older IBM PCs. If your computer runs
Windows® 95, or doesn't have the processing power or RAM required to run Internet Explorer®
6 SP1 then you should use this Internet browser.
Recommended System Requirements:
- Computer with an Intel® Pentium® Processor.
- Microsoft® Windows® 95, or Windows® 98 Second Edition.
- 32 MB of RAM.
- 6 - 17 MB avaiable on hard drive during installation.
Installation Notes:
When you click Download you will be prompted
to download a 500 KB setup file called ie5setup.exe. Save this file to your desktop and,
once the download is complete, run the file by double-clicking it to begin the installation.

Netscape® 7.01 is a modern multimedia browser that is offered as an alternative
to Microsoft® Internet Explorer® 6.x
Recommended System Requirements:
- Computer with an Intel® Pentium® 233 MHz (or faster) Processor.
- Microsoft® Windows® 98 Second Edition, or Windows® XP.
- 64 MB of RAM.
- 26 MB avaiable on hard drive.
Installation Notes:
When you click Download you will be prompted
to download a 245 KB setup file called NSSetup.exe. Save this file to your desktop and,
once the download is complete, run the file by double-clicking it to begin the installation.

Adobe® Acrobat® Reader™ Software allows you to read Adobe® Acrobat®
Documents (.pdf files) published on the web. If you use iNotes™ Web Access as your e-mail client,
this is a required download.
Note: This download is for computers running Microsoft® Windows® 98 Second
Edition or Microsoft® Windows® XP only. See Adobe®
Acrobat® Reader™ 5.05 below for Microsoft® Windows® 95 machines.
Recommended System Requirements:
- Computer with an Intel® Pentium® Processor.
- Microsoft® Windows® 98 Second Edition, or Windows® XP.
- 64 MB of RAM.

where you can select which version of Adobe® Acrobat® Reader™ to download. Select

platform drop down menu and click the Download
button to proceed. You will be prompted to download an 8.6 MB file named AcroReader51_ENU.exe. Save
this file to your desktop and, once the download is complete, run the file by double-clicking it to
begin the installation.

of the download page. A 9.8 MB file named eBookReaderInstall.exe will be downloaded. Save this file to your
desktop and, once the download is complete, run the file by double-clicking it to begin the installation.

Apple Macintosh®
All updates for the Macintosh® OS can be downloaded via the
Software Update feature of the Macintosh® OS.
Mac® OS 9.x:
Bring up the Apple Menu by clicking
the Apple icon located in the upper left corner of the screen. From the Apple
Menu select Control Panels. From Control Panels select
Software Update. Once the Software Update dialog box appears
click the button labeled "Update Now", to update your
computer.
Mac® OS X (and Jaguar):
Bring up the Apple Menu by clicking
the Apple icon located in the upper left corner of the screen. From the Apple
Menu select System Preferences. Under the System section
of the System Preferences window, select Software Update.
Click the button labeled "Check Now" to check for new
software and updates for your computer.

Netscape® 7.01 is a modern multimedia browser that is offered as an alternative
to Microsoft® Internet Explorer® 5.x
Note: This download is for computers running Apple® Mac® OS X.

Recommended System Requirements:
- Computer with an Intel® PowerPC® G3, or G4 Processor.

Installation Notes:
When you click Download you will be taken to a webpage where
you must select the Mac OS X link. You will then be prompted to download a 19.2
MB setup file called Netscape-macosX.smi. Once downloaded the installation process will be started
automatically. Follow the on-screen directions to complete the installation.

Installation Notes:
When you click Download you will be taken to a webpage where
you must select the Mac Classic link. You will then be prompted to download a 156
KB setup file called Netscape-macos9-7.01-stub.sit. Once downloaded the installer will be uncompressed
automatically into a folder named "Netscape Installer". Open this folder and
double-click the "Netscape 7.01 Installer" icon to begin the installation.

MacBinary Format: US link under the Download software now section of the
Acrobat eBook Reader software for Macintosh section of the download page. A 10.4
MB file named Acrobat eBookReader Installer will be downloaded. Save this file to your desktop and, once the

Internet Browser Plug-ins
Download
Macromedia Flash Player is a plug-in to your Internet browser that allows it to display
Macromedia Flash animations. Flash animations are used to add interactive content to web pages.
Installation Notes:
When you click Download you will be redirected to the
Macromedia Web Players Download page. Find the desired player and operating
system in the table at the bottom of the page, and click the Download icon
to start the installation.

Media Players
Download
QuickTime 6 is an audio/ video player that supports many of the Internet's
most widely used media formats. It supports static and streaming media.
Recommended System Requirements (Windows®):
- An Intel® Pentium® processor.
- 32 MB of RAM.
- Microsoft® Windows® 98 Second Edition, or Microsoft® Windows® XP.
- A Sound Blaster or compatible sound card and speakers recommended.
- Microsoft® DirectX version 3.0 or later recommended.
Recommended System Requirements (Macintosh®):
- A PowerPC® processor.
- 32 MB of RAM.
- Apple® Mac® OS 8.6 or later, Mac® OS X v.10.1.3 or later.
Installation Notes:
When you click Download you will be redirected to the
Apple® QuickTime Download Page. There you can download the QuickTime
Free player for your operating system, and register QuickTime with Apple®.
