Governing Board Member General Election - November 4, 2008

Three positions on the Lompoc Unified School District’s five-member Board of Education will be up for election on November 4, 2008.

Candidates may obtain nomination documents between July 14, 2008 and August 8, 2008 (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) From the following county clerk-recorder office locations:

Summer Food Service Program
FREE MEALS will be available Monday through Friday to all children who are 18 years of age or younger.

Superintendent Frank Lynch Announces Retirement - 6/12/2008

Frank Lynch, Superintendent of the Lompoc Unified School District, announced his retirement effective December 31, 2008. He thoroughly enjoyed his 3-1/2 years as Superintendent of the school district. He is looking forward to spending more time with his wife, his children and grandchildren in his retirement.

“I will miss working with the Board, the staff, the parents, and the students of this wonderful community. I wish the District and the community all the best.”

Summer School Information - 6/4/08
Enrollment and Location

LUSD Summer School began on June 13, 2008 and the last day will be July 18, 2008. Year-round students will finish July 11, 2008 and begin their new school year on July 16, 2008. School hours are:

K-5 Elementary 8:30 am-1:30 pm6-12 Secondary 8 am-2:45 pm

All Schools will be closed July 4 for the National Holiday.

Lunch and Breakfast menus are available at the Menus link in the column to the left.

K-5 Summer School will be held at Fillmore Elementary School. 1211 East Pine, 805-742-2100 Principal Schel Brown

6-12 Summer School will be held at Lompoc High School. 515 West College Ave. 805-742-2940 Principal Tara Eastmark

English Learners Program
Lompoc Unified School District (LUSD) offers several programs for students who are English Learners (ELs). In all of the programs, ELs receive concentrated instruction in the use of the English language that is appropriate for their grade and English language proficiency level. Such Instruction must be provided by a teacher with advanced training in special strategies to help students increase their English proficiency and learn academic subjects taught in English. Parents of ELs are encouraged to contact their child's school if they would like more information about other educational opportunities.
