18. Reduce payout for teachers who cover classes in lieu of prep

Suggestion:

Reduce payout for teachers who cover classes in lieu of prep and utilize a regular certificated substitute.

 

Response:

Certificated substitutes are sometimes not readily available to cover one period.  Teachers are paid 3/7th of the substitute rate (Approx $38 - $45 depending upon the site) when they substitute during their preparation period.  In lieu of payment, teachers have the option to bank comp time at either .167 of a day (CHS, LHS and VMS) or .2 at LVMS

 

Nevertheless, this is an item that will be taken through the collective bargaining process with the certificated employee association.
