AFJROTC - What is the General Fund obligation?
The CHS ROTC program receives $66,244 from the USAF to operate the program. After taking into account personnel costs/salaries and transportation expenses, the Air Force ROTC program at Cabrillo High School requires a $107,000 contribution from the General Fund to operate.
This program was added to the CHS course offering two years ago without any proportional reductions in other elective areas. Subsequently, this program is an extra expense because no extra ADA is generated.
The Air Force is in conversations with LUSD regarding the future viability of this program because of the number of students it affects, and whether it is a cost effective program for both the USAF and LUSD. Air Force regulations require a minimum of 100 participants for a program to be considered viable.
