44. Charge for Student Transportation

Suggestion:
Charge for student transportation after reviewing what other districts are doing who charge for transportation.

Response:
Other districts are getting mixed results for charging for transportation.  One San Luis Obispo County school district started charging for transportation in the 11-12 school year and discovered that many students either found other methods for transportation (eg. car pool, city transit), or were eligible for free/reduced meals which then provides a waiver of transportation fees.

LUSD has established a uniform complaint procedure (1312.3) for all relevant programs per 5 CCR § 4622 et seq . The district has a policy of nondiscrimination on the basis of gender per Education Amendments of 1972, Title IX: Nondiscrimination.
