45. Close the print shop

Suggestion:
Look at closing the printing factory and determine if out sourcing is a more viable option.

Response:
This is an area that has been examined in the past.  Closing the print shop is problematic at a couple of levels as there is no ready place to outsource in Lompoc, and the travel time required to utilize other printing facilities in Santa Barbara County are both operationally and fiscally inefficient.

The District print shop isn’t a for-profit service. Pricing at commercial print shop is 3-5x more than the costs of the district print shop.   A commercial print shop will make staff wait days or weeks when other clients are ahead in the priority list.

LUSD has established a uniform complaint procedure (1312.3) for all relevant programs per 5 CCR § 4622 et seq . The district has a policy of nondiscrimination on the basis of gender per Education Amendments of 1972, Title IX: Nondiscrimination.
