Staff To Receive Award & Lecture At June 2012, National Institute
As one of only two statewide awards available to Adult Education programs, this award is an extraordinary honor. On Wednesday, June 13, LUSD Adult Education staff received the immense honor of being recognized as a Promising Practices program by CDE and CASAS with this award. We participated in an awards panel at the CASAS National Summer Institute in San Diego to inform and instruct others about successful components of our program:

Rigorous curriculum
Clear, articulated, and goal oriented transitions from level to level within programs leading to a living wage future
Collaborative lesson planning
Professional learning community
Persistence and retention program
Significant completion rate increase as evidenced by the federal National Reporting System
Implementation of best practices
Increase of persistence rates from 76.03% in 2007 to 84.23% in 2011-2012 year to date as evidenced by the federal National Reporting System
Consistently exceeding state and federal goals
Structured teaching assignments
One on one student teacher meetings meet 98% to 100% participation goal every 7-8 weeks
