Mr. Matt Makowetski "Mako"

A Bilingual, National Board Certified Teacher, Mr. Makowetski has taught at Maple High School for 22 years. He earned his B.A. in English from Rowan University and his teaching credential from Chapman University.

Mr. Makowetski strives to connect his students through project learning to their City of Lompoc and the larger national and world stage. In doing this, he works to have Maple students partake in their City and see how they can learn about and improve their community.

During the summer months, Mr. Makowetski works for Project Surf Camp, a camp that works with young people with disabilities. In addition, Mr. Makowetski has made a yearly field trip for Maple students to volunteer in Project Surf Camp each summer.

Quite simply, he feels that Maple is the most incredible school in Lompoc and that the Maple Knights can “change lives”!
