    Patricia Blades
    3rd Grade

    Hours for help:

Ms. Blades is really excited to be starting her fifth year of teaching third grade at Fillmore. She absolutely loves this school, the students, and the staff.

Ms. Blades is originally from the East Coast.  She grew up in Silver Springs and later Annapolis, Maryland where she met her husband.  Her husband joined the Air Force, and they lived in Florida for several years, moved back to Maryland, and finally relocated to California in 2000.  He retired from the Air Force in 2006, and they have made Lompoc their home.

Ms. Blades received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Studies from the University of La Verne and her multiple subject teaching credential from Chapman University.

Prior to working in the school district, Ms. Blades worked for the Air Force as a secretary.   She has been working in education since 2003.  Ms. Blades was an instructional assistant at Clarence Ruth Elementary School and Maple High School, and then a tutor at both Maple and Fillmore.  This will be her fourth year teaching third grade at Fillmore.

Outside of school, Ms. Blades enjoys camping with her family. She and her husband have explored most of California over the past few years.  She also enjoys hiking, going to the beach, and doing yard work/gardening.

Ms. Blades' most recent reads are The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, Looking for Me by Beth Hoffman, and Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline.  One of her favorite books of all time is The Help by Kathryn Stockett.
