A Lompoc Native, Ms. Venegas enjoys working with teenagers and has worked for LUSD for 24 years. She operates the Open Door Parent/Student Center in front of the school next door to Athletics. The Center offers students & parents assistance with locating community resources, accessible computers, operating Zangle, school supplies and a place for students to hang out during lunch.
Ms. Venegas worked at Hapgood Elementary School as a Bilingual nstructional Assistant and Home/School Bilingual Liaison. Transferring to Lompoc High gave her the opportunity to watch former Hapgood students graduate from LHS. “You watched me start in kindergarten and now you can watch me graduate,” many of her students are quoted as saying.
In 2003, Ms. Venegas completed the Dropout Prevention Specialist Program at Sacramento State University. Upon completing the program she began working with students in at-risk situations to overcome their barriers to achieve a diploma.
Ms. Venegas is married and has 3 adult children and 1 grandchild. She enjoys researching her family tree, photography and sewing. In her free time she teaches Ballet Folklórico to local children and youth.
