Ignacio Figueroa4th Grade
Mr. Figueroa has spent much of his life in places such as Washington, Hawaii, and all throughout California before settling down in Lompoc. He attended UC Santa Barbara where he majored in history and later earned his multiple subject teaching credential from Chapman University. He has been teaching at Fillmore Elementary for just over a decade, most of it in the fourth grade.
Mr. Figueroa is excited about the opportunity to focus on science this year as he enjoys watching the students discover something new. After all, it is in this class where children will be able to make a rock float on water or rip a rock apart with their bare hands. He is also excited about the infusion of technology in the classroom with Chromebooks as well as the opportunity to work with Fillmore Innovators, students who will design and construct prototypes after school.
When Mr. Figueroa is outside of the classroom, he can be found spending time with his two children playing or working on homework. Mr. Figueroa can also be found between the covers of a good Western by Louis L’amour or a thriller written by Brad Thor.
Above all, he looks forward to to working with fourth graders during the next school year.
