    Learners today – Leaders tomorrow!

    Dear Families,

Welcome back! I hope that you and your family had a relaxing summer vacation. My name is Elizabeth Flores and I am thrilled to be the new Lead School Counselor at LVMS. This is going to be a fun year for our students filled with learning, growing, and wonderful new experiences.

I wanted to take a moment to briefly tell you about myself. I am originally from San Diego, CA. I attended the University of Washington in Seattle, where I received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. I later graduated from the University of San Diego with my Master’s in School Counseling. Last year, I moved to the central coast and joined Lompoc Unified School District as the College and Career Readiness Counselor for both Lompoc and Cabrillo High School. I am looking forward to working with students of LVMS to help prepare them for high school and beyond.

I would like to additionally introduce another new counselor this year, Carina Gutierrez. Ms. Gutierrez was born and raised in Lompoc, CA and joined the LVMS team as the discipline secretary in 2016. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of California, Santa Cruz. After living in the bay area for a few years, she decided to move back to Lompoc where she pursued her Master’s degree in School Counseling through Brandman University. Ms. Gutierrez is excited to continue to serve the students of LVMS in her new role of school counselor.

As School Counselors, we are available to assist students with their academic and career development, as well as any social or emotional concerns. We do this through offering services such as classroom lessons, individual meetings, academic/career planning, group counseling, consultation with staff and parents, and referrals to community resources.

Your student’s school counselor is as follows:

    Last Names A-L: Ms. Gutierrez

    Last Names M-Z: Ms. Flores

If you have any questions regarding the counseling program, please contact the department at (805) 742-2620 or email us at Flores.Elizabeth@LUSD.org or Gutierrez.Carina@LUSD.org. We are excited to be working with you and your child and are looking forward to a wonderful school year.
