Ms. Blair loves watching her students grow in their communication through collaborative learning. Witnessing her students’ response to creative lessons that bring out their unique growth potential makes teaching exciting and fresh. In Kindergarten, Lompoc Unified’s students attend school for a full day and reap the benefits of Ms. Blair’s dynamic learning environment! The Kindergarten California language arts curriculum guide students to learn a letter a week while incorporating phonemic awareness skills using sight words for writing and utilizing literature rich in meaning. By the end of the year students can read and write sentences well using these 10, 25 and 40+ words.Ms. Blair is so excited to have the Learning Dynamics Reading supplement again this year to promote literacy and a love of literacy in our students and their families. Each student will be given engaging books at their reading level. These colorful and content rich readers will foster a love of reading for years to come. The Learning Dynamics audio CD also has songs that will have the entire family tapping their fingers and toes while singing along to the catchy songs. In math students learn numbers 1-30, geometry, algebraic concepts and conceptual principals. Students will write the numbers, identify them out of order and be able to count, without skipping, to at least 30 and even higher. Kindergarten also has daily “Number Talks" which help enforce numeral concepts. We encourage EVERYONE to get involved in the La Honda PTA and volunteer in Ms. Blair’s Kindergarten classroom; you’ll be glad you did!
