A Message from the PrincipalAugust 2019Dear Miguelito Families:
Miguelito is truely a marvelous community of families, parents, students, teachers, and staff all working together to ensure academic success for all students in a positive, learning focused environment. Our faculty and staff work hard to ensure all students are provided with enriching learning opportunities in order to become creative and critical thinkers. Moreover, our student centered campus culture helps each student work towards his or her full potential through a well rounded curriculum along with a variety of clubs and activities.
In order to maintain that environment we provide a safe and inviting atmosphere where all students learn responsibility and respect for others so that they can enjoy coming to school to learn new things. With that goal in mind, students and staff demonstrate positive behaviors that focus on “being safe, being responsible, and being respectful.” We also utilize a social skills curricula designed to help students build positive social connections.
Families are the key players in student success, so we need your help and support for our academic environment. This is why we ask parents to help staff members protect our academic instruction time by minimizing classroom interruptions. We will make sure that your student has all the necessary matierials necessary for the school day as well as knowing the logistics of where they are supposed to go after school goes a long way toward improving instructional time. Any donated supplies are welcome, but none are required or requested. All of the preparation in the world, however, will not help if a student is not here. Please do your best to have your student here on time every day.We understand that sometimes drop-off can get backed up, but by arriving early enough to allow for traffic your student will have a chance to start each day off on a positive note and without the stress of running late. If something is forgotten, or a mid-day message needs to be disseminated notify the office and we will be sure to get the item or information to your student in a way that has minimal impact on class instructional time.
Your participation is welcomed in some very important ways. We need parents and community members to offer their talents at our school. All extra activities, such as assemblies, the garden, and field trips require many helpers. Your help allows us to offer exciting, engaging educational programs for our students. Please consider joining the PTA, School Site Council, or our ELAC (English Learners Advisory Council) and offering time to support our children’s educational experience. It truly takes an entire community to empower our students to become successful citizens. I look forward to another great year and feel blessed to work in such an amazing community!
