Julia Beth King Anderson – Visual/Performing Arts
I have the pleasure of conducting the Marching Band, Winter Drum Line (Indoor Drum Line), Symphonic Winds, Concert Band, String Orchestra, the Lompoc Unified School District Symphony Orchestra, the LHS Jazz Band, and the LHS Pep Band. I have also served as Musical Director and Pit Orchestra Conductor for the Visual and Performing Arts Department annual Broadway musical productions: “Little Shop of Horrors”, “Oklahoma!”, “Narnia”, “Into the Woods”, “How to Succeed in Business”, and “South Pacific”.
I am proud to say, especially in these difficult economic times, that music classes are still available here in the Lompoc Valley, and in some cases happily growing!! I try to actively network with other directors both in and out of the Central Coast to create a wider variety of performance opportunities and experiences for my students. Experiences such as spring performance tours, putting ourselves to the test with multiple groups undertaking competitions and adjudication, and even performing at Disneyland!
I recently completed serving my school as a Focus Group Leader for our recent WASC Accreditation Self – Study and Team Visit. I am currently a member of the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association (SCSBOA), the California Music Educators Association (CMEA), the Music Educators National Conference (MENC), the California Band Directors Association (CBDA), the California Orchestra Directors Association (CODA), and the International Trumpeters Guild (ITG). In 2003, I served as the coordinator and host of the CMEA Northern Santa Barbara County High School Honor Band.
