Lompoc Reads: Launch into Reading!

Lompoc Unified School District is excited to announce its inaugural, summer, digital reading program Lompoc Reads: Launch into Reading! As students enjoy their relaxing summer, Lompoc Unified School District wanted to ensure all students have access to over 6,000 enhanced digital reading books. Summer learning loss during elementary school accounts for two-thirds of the achievement gap in reading between low-income children and their middle-income peers by ninth grade. (Based on a study by Johns Hopkins University).

Beginning June 10, 2019 Lompoc Unified School District will provide students with access to myOn, a collection of thousands of books and daily news articles, wherever students can access internet on a device. In some cases, there is also a free app available on iTunes which can be loaded to a device that would support offline reading. Any student who reads 25 hours or more this summer will be invited to have lunch with Superintendent Trevor McDonald. Students and parents will receive further information about this great program before school ends. Lompoc Reads will end on August 15, 2019.
