LUSD Available Services
All students in LUSD receive breakfast and lunch at no cost, regardless of income. Our nutrition team is committed to providing healthy, balanced meals each day and can accommodate dietary needs or restrictions with proper documentation.
More information, including menus and forms for special dietary requests, is available on our Child Nutrition page.
LUSD provides counseling and behavioral support through a tiered system of support aligned with Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS):
-
Tier 1 – Universal Supports: Schoolwide expectations, SEL lessons, and prevention strategies for all students.
-
Tier 2 – Targeted Supports: Small group counseling, check-ins, and short-term interventions for students needing additional help.
-
Tier 3 – Individualized Supports: Intensive, personalized services for students with greater social-emotional or behavioral needs.
To deliver this support, each school site has a dedicated team that includes a counselor, a social worker, and a school psychologist.
Each LUSD school has a health office staffed to support students’ daily needs, from first aid to medication and health screenings. Our district nurses and health staff work closely with families to ensure students’ well-being at school.
Learn more on our Health Services page.
To support our military-connected students, LUSD has two schools located on Vandenberg Space Force Base:
-
Crestview Elementary (Transitional Kindergarten through 6th grade) – Located inside the base. Families must have base access in order for their children to attend.
-
Vandenberg Middle School (7th and 8th grade) – Located on base property but open to the public. Students do not need base access to enroll.
Families living on base may choose to attend these schools or explore other schools within LUSD, depending on their needs.
Your student’s services will continue when they enroll in Lompoc Unified. To help us ensure a smooth transition, we recommend bringing the most recent copy of your child’s IEP or 504 plan at the time of enrollment. If you don’t have a copy, we will request the records from your previous school.
By law, the receiving district must provide an interim placement for up to 30 days while reviewing records and coordinating services (California Education Code, via SIRAS Systems). This ensures there is no interruption in support for your child.
