LUSD High School Graduation Requirements
To graduate, students must complete 230 high school credits. 230 Credits Total (including the required courses listed below)
A - Social Science - 3 courses (30 credits)
- World History
- US History
- American Government/Economics
B - English - 4 courses (40 credits)
A new graduation requirement starting with the class of 2029 is an Ethnic Studies course. LUSD is embedding this requirement into English 9 courses, beginning in the fall semester of 2025.
Mathematics - 3 courses (30 credits)
- Three different levels, including Math 1
Science - 3 courses (30 credits)
- Physical Science - 1 year
- Life Science - 1 year
- Physical or Life Science - 1 additional year
Language (other than English) or Visual & Performing Arts or Career Technical Education - 1 course (10 credits)
Physical Education - 2 courses (20 credits)
- Mandatory in Grade 9
4-Year College Admissions Requirements (A-G)
A-G requirements are 15 year-long college preparatory courses established by the University of California (UC). Students must complete (with a grade of C or better) to be minimally eligible for admission to the University of California (UC) and California State University (CSU). Each high school has a list of approved courses. 230 Credits Total (including the required courses listed below)
